New Year Wishes . .
.
Most of the people I know send out Christmas cards,
but one friend of mine does things a little bit differently. He prefers to send out new year wishes. You see,
my friends are a pretty multicultural group. Although many of them honor the Christmas holidays, the feeling is
that new year's eve is something even more universal in our society. It is a time for celebration, but also
one for reflection. It is a time for renewal in a way that Christmas really isn't. The Christmas holiday can be
extremely stressful for a lot of people, but New Year's Eve is almost always a blast. A New Years wish is a great
way to open up the new year and tell someone how much they mean to you.
There are many different kinds of New Years greetings. In my opinion, the best New Year wishes are the simplest
ones. Something like "Happy New Year to a Dear Friend" is always a great new year card. It gets the point across
without being overly verbose and sentimental. It also expresses something significant – that a new year is dawning
and a new beginning is here.
People expect Christmas cards, but New Year wishes often catch them by surprise. When my friend sent his
first "Happy New Year" cards around, people were so delighted with them that he actually got a few phone
calls. Some of his friends wanted to thank him for wishing them a happy new year. He was delighted to
hear from these people, because you don't always get to hear from folks around the holidays. Christmas is usually a
time for close family, and often people have plans on the new year that don't allow them to see other friends.
Sending out a new year card is a good way to reconnect with someone you would have liked to see over the holiday,
but just didn't have time to catch up with.
Sometimes we do not get the time to send out formal new year wishes cards and therefore actually end up sending
out new year e cards, due to lack of time to visit the card store. Of course, it is nice to not have to worry
about individual addresses and such and just add our e-mail addresses to the electronic greeting card form and
start sending. Nothing could be easier.
